Toothy large-toothed predators are found on the seabed. Better to stay away from them at a decent distance.
Angler fish
This is not the most beautiful fish in the world. The fish lives at a depth where sunlight does not reach. Anglers live in the cold Atlantic and Antarctic oceans, at a depth of about 2 km. Most often, they hide at the very bottom, buried in silt or sand. The angler’s skin is dark gray or brown. She has a large flattened head, equipped with sharp spikes. The huge mouth is studded with sharp teeth, bent into the oral cavity. The largest of them grow up to 2 meters, weighing up to 28 kg.
The female has a meaty process on her head. A rod similar to a float moves away from it. The rod can be 4 times the length of the fish itself. The process is filled with mucus, on which bacteria multiply. They glow in front of a huge angler’s mouth. The mouth gap exceeds the size of the fish itself. It is capable of swallowing prey 2 times the angler. This fish may swallow a non-careful driver.
These monsters have strange mating games. A small male (he is 10 times smaller than a female) behaves like an alphonse or a parasite. As an adult, he finds a girlfriend and bites into her body with sharp teeth. Eating a female, he himself produces a special substance that digests his body. Undoubtedly, it gets stuck in the body of the female and dissolves itself. After a week, only the male ovaries remain on the female’s body. But he is able in this case to water the eggs with his milk. A female can use up to 10 males throughout her life. But usually she needs 5-6.
Spawning occurs at depth, and light eggs float to the surface of the water. Here, larvae hatch from eggs. They feed, grow and sink to the bottom. Angler is aggressive. If he is not carefully approached, he will immediately attack. Italians eat angler meat.
Viper fish
She lives at a depth of 80-1600 meters in a tropical region of the World Ocean. It is a frightening and bloodthirsty predator. The fish that live closer to the surface of the water surface are black. The deeper their habitat is located, the more individuals look lighter. At the very bottom where daylight does not reach, they are colorless.
Viper fish are hunted using photophore. This is a special luminous organ that grows on the dorsal fin. The eyes of the fish are large, they perfectly see in the darkness of the seabed. Sharp teeth protrude a few centimeters beyond the edge of the mouth. The viper hunts for fish far exceeding its size. She quickly bites her teeth into her prey's mouth and waits for the victim to weaken. Then calmly swallow their victim. After a hearty meal, the viper becomes like a round ball with sharp teeth. Viper is not a tricky fish and aggressive. She, not having calculated, can attack a large animal, which will not notice her swoops.
Alepisaurus
Fish can weigh more than 8 kilograms, with a length of up to 2 meters. She is distinguished by her mind. Only in rare cases, fishermen catch it with nets.It is impossible to catch it with a fishing rod. Alepisaur lives in the oceans. The fish is similar to a pike, also with sharp teeth, but with a wide sharp dorsal fin and a well-developed tail.
Saber-toothed fish
This little black or brown monster lives on the seabed. Its length slightly exceeds 15 cm. Like many sea monsters, in saber-toothed fish the head and mouth exceed the size of its body. The jaws of the fish are dotted with sharp fangs. Saber-toothed fish fry are painted in a lighter tone. Long spikes grow on their head.
The fish lives at a depth of about 5 km. She feels well at a pressure of more than 425 atm. At such depths there is little food, so small predators attack everything that moves. They can swallow prey 2-3 times the size of the fish itself. Sabretooth fish live off the coast of Australia, in the tropical and temperate waters of the ocean.
Dragon fish
She attacks everything that suits her food. The dragon fish is aggressive, although its length is slightly more than 15 cm. The small monster has a large head, a huge mouth with sharp teeth. Fish catches prey using photophore.
This flashing long mustache is located near the mouth and lures the prey. The predator waits for the victim to approach it. Then, with a sharp movement of his jaws, he grabs a gaping fish. When the prey is small, the dragon fish swallows it completely. Such fish swim in tropical areas of the ocean, at a depth of over 1.5 km.
There are no less predators in the sea depths than on land. Their mining methods are slightly different. They often use photophores; it helps them to lure prey to themselves.
